June 2009

Term Dates
Last day of term: Saturday 18th July 2009 (for Sharings only)
Autumn term
Starts: Wednesday 3rd September 2009
Ends: Tuesday 15th December (no break for half term)

We have made changes to our timetable for September. Please check new class times carefully.

Sharing - Saturday 18th July 2009
We will be having a ‘Sharing’ on the last Saturday of term. This is an opportunity for the Saturday children to perform in an informal setting, and for pupils and parents to see the progression of work. Due to the large number of children involved and our limited seating, we will be holding two sessions, and pupils will be asked to perform at one of them. Please let us know as soon as possible if your child cannot attend. (Please see attached sheet for times)

New Classes
In September we will be staring a new Modern and Tap class for younger children. This will be aimed at children in school years 1 and 2 and will take place on Saturdays from 11.15 – 11.45am. Please see Debbie or Rachel if you think your child might be interested.

Preparatory Drama
Preparatory Drama was very successful this year with eight children passing their Bronze medals and currently working towards Silver medals. This class takes place in the Study room on Saturdays from 12.30 - 1pm and is aimed at children in school years 1 and 2. It is an excellent way of building confidence and creativity. Please see Debbie or Rachel if your child is interested in joining.

Fees
There will be no increase in fees this year. Just a reminder - if your child is interested in taking more than one class with us, our fee structure is worked out on an accumulative time basis and not per class. For example one ¾ hour class is £6.50, but two ¾ hour classes are £11.00.

We hope you all have a great Summer,

Regards, Barbara, Debbie and Rachel

Second ten-week block 2008

Second Ten-Week Block

The second ten-week block begins on Monday 10th November. Please find your new invoice attached to this letter. This will be the last letter before the end of term so we have included dates for your diary. Remember that a copy of this letter can be found on our website (www.cumbriadance.com) in the ‘News’ section.
Last classes for this term will be on Saturday 13th December
We return on Monday 5th January 2009

Modern and Drama Exams
A reminder that these exams are on Sunday 7th December.

Preparatory Drama
The new Saturday morning Preparatory Drama class has got off to a good start. The children are really enjoying the various activities, especially the poetry and puppet theatre. This class is for Years 1 and 2 and there are still a few places available.

Peter Pan
Our Drama Group’s production of Peter Pan has now been cast. This production takes place on 27th and 28th March 2009. More details to follow.

Ballet Uniform
An increasing number of pupils are not wearing the correct clothing for ballet classes. The ISTD requires that all pupils taking an exam wear the correct uniform. Primary Ballet is the first exam (Saturday 10.45 am) and all pupils in this class right through to the oldest student should be wearing the correct uniform each week – this includes hairstyles. Crossovers and tights are available for all ages. Please do not wear modern uniform for ballet classes.

Class Times
Can we remind parents that a class time is when a class starts and not when a pupil should arrive. We are finding that particularly the older children are arriving very late. They need time to change and warm up before the class actually starts.

Regards,
Barbara, Debbie and Rachel

Dress Rehearsal Monday 23rd March

As I approach casting the above play I would be grateful if parents could consult their diaries and make sure that pupils will be free to perform on those dates. I’m aware that some of you have not seen the original flyer or advert.
If you have any problems please let me know ASAP
